About Us

History of the Rotary Club of Bukoto

The Rotary Club of Bukoto was chartered on 21st March 2003 with the late Peter Elimu as the charter PRESIDENT and it had 26 members. This colourful occasion was held at the then Equatorial hotel. At inception the following Rotarians from the Rotary club of Ntinda (which is also our mother club) were instrumental in the formation and mentoring of our club – PP Eric Busaasi, PP Kate Kangwagye, PP Chris Were and PP Florence Tinka as well as the late Rtn Dan Mpungu who was a Special Representative of the Governor. To-date of the 26 charter members, only 8 charter members are still active Rotarians, of which 7 are still active members of the club and 1 relocated to Kenya and is still an active Rotarian with RC of Bahari, Mombasa.

Rotary, every human life is equally precious. We strive through our service to elevate those lives, to give of ourselves, to share our resources and our talents to improve the lives of the less fortunate. We do this because we believe in the ideal of Service Above Self, and because we believe that dignifying the lives of others dignifies us all.
