MALARIA PROJECT MULIMIRA ZONE

Under improved Primary Health Care Project supported by the Rotarian Malaria Partners of Uganda, the Rotary Club of Bukoto was one of the Clubs which were selected to implement a one-year project on how to improve primary health care, and in particular, help fight malaria. This project, implemented in Mulimira Zone in the slums of Bukoto, started from October 2020 to October 2021. Due to Covid 19 pandemic complications, it was extended by two months to the 31st of December 2021. The Project was successfully concluded on 31st December 2021.

The goal of the Project was:

  • Increase awareness and community participation on malaria preventive measures.
  • Improve communication and collaboration with district or division health department, health centres and other partners working on prevention of malaria.
  • Train health care professionals/community workers, VHTs on primary health care, service delivery, malaria drug management, integrated management of childhood illnesses and malaria prevention.
  • Provision of 2000 mosquito nets, treatment and response.
